This Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable does not require supporting structures such as steel cables or pipes, and can be directly hung on power facilities such as utility poles and light poles. The structural feature is that the 250µm optical fiber is wrapped in a loose tube made of PBT, which contains a filling compound. The center of the optical cable is a fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) central reinforcement member to increase the strength of the optical cable. The water-blocking layer includes water-blocking yarn and water-blocking tape. 1620 dtex aramid yarn is used on the inside of the outer sheath, and the optical cable is equipped with 2 Ripcords. The double outer sheaths are PE jacket or AT jacket.

Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable Production Process
1. Color-code and mark the bare optical fibers

2. Combine 12 single-core fibers into a single loose tube, with water-blocking jelly filled synchronously.

3. Stranding multiple loose tubes and wrapping with water-blocking tape to form the cable core.

4. Extrude first HDPE inner sheath to cover core, then spool on temporary reels for outer sheath process.

5. After completion of the inner sheath, helically wind high-strength aramid yarn around it, and finally extrude an outer layer of UV-resistant and weather-resistant HDPE outer sheath.

Double Sheath ADSS Quality Inspection Process
- Inspect raw materials for optical cable sheath, including thermal aging test and tensile test.
- Record the linear density, breaking strength and modulus of elasticity of the aramid yarn used, and test its tensile strength and elongation.
- After fiber coloring, test the attenuation via OTDR, and test the adhesion of the colored layer by wiping repeatedly with alcohol.
- After manufacturing a single loose tube, inspect the attenuation, excess fiber length, outer diameter and wall thickness of the tube.
- After stranding multiple loose tubes into a cable core, measure the attenuation again and check the outer diameter of the cable core.
- For the finished cabled optical cable with sheathing, conduct a final test of attenuation as well as the outer diameter and wall thickness of the sheath.
- Take one reel of Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable for environmental temperature(-40℃~+80℃ ) testing.
- Take 100 meters of Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable for mechanical performance testing.
- Issue an Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable test report and affix it to the outside of the cable reel.

Project Cases

For urban and rural fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) projects with an actual span of less than 150 meters, SoctFiber's double sheath aerial ADSS cable is applied. This product features excellent weather resistance, high tensile strength and stable transmission performance, making it suitable for long-distance outdoor aerial installation.
FAQ
1. Is damage or scratching to the outer sheath of Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable a quality issue of the cable itself?
Although double-sheathed cables offer better scratch resistance, proper construction practices are still required. Dragging friction and squeezing through pulleys can cause scratches to the outer sheath. Damaged areas must be repaired promptly with waterproof sealant; otherwise, water penetration may occur over time.
2. Is cracking or chalking of the sheath normal after several years of outdoor use?
Cracking or accelerated aging may result from using non-weather-resistant types in strong UV-exposed areas, or from unrepaired construction damage that allows water ingress. Double-sheathed design with UV-resistant materials can significantly delay such issues.
3. Can it be used in coastal areas, chemical plants, or acid rain environments?
Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable provide stronger corrosion resistance. However, it must be confirmed that special sheath materials resistant to acid, alkali, and salt spray are used. Ordinary outer sheaths will degrade more quickly under long-term exposure to highly corrosive gases.
4. Does stiffening in low winter temperatures or softening in summer affect performance?
Soctfiber’s Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable is tested under high and low temperature conditions before delivery. It operates stably within a temperature range of -40℃ to +80℃. Hardness changes are normal material characteristics and do not affect transmission performance.
5. Why is SoctFiber Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable more expensive than other ADSS cables?
Every material used by SoctFiber undergoes laboratory testing with strictly selected high-quality raw materials. Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable involves higher production costs, but offers superior weather resistance, tensile strength, and damage resistance. It reduces long-term operation and maintenance costs and minimizes future replacement and rework.
6. What should I do if the double sheath aerial adss cable length received is insufficient or the length markings are inaccurate?
Length markings are controlled in accordance with national standards, with errors within the allowable range. If a verified shortage exists, provide the reel number and photos of the length markings for direct after-sales replacement or compensation.
7. Is cable breakage a quality issue or a construction issue?
Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable that has passed strict inspections does not have inherent quality defects. The cause can be determined by examining the sheath breakage: clean, straight breaks mostly result from excessive tension; multiple irregular cracks may be caused by electrical corrosion or environmental aging.
8. Can double-sheathed ADSS be customized in span, fiber count, and sheath color?
Customization is supported. We regularly produce Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable with 2 to 144 fibers. Sheath colors including red, blue, orange, and yellow are available, and tensile ratings can be designed according to project span requirements.
9. Is there an MOQ for small-batch projects? What is the lead time?
The MOQ for Double Sheath Aerial ADSS Cable is 1 km. With stable bare fiber stock, the general lead time is 7–15 days.
10. Are fittings, preformed helical rods, and strain clamps included?
They are not included by default. We can provide a complete set of fitting solutions to avoid complaints caused by mismatched parts selected by customers.
